Inversion of Surface Parameters from NASA/JPL AIRSAR Polarimetric SAR Data

چکیده
The improvements of polarimetric SAR data inversion algorithms are discussed and presented. The confounding influence of roughness and vegetation cover on the estimation of the soil moisture contents are considered in the inversion algorithm that estimates moisture content and roughness parameters simultaneously from the pertinent combination of polarization measurements. The estimation of soil moisture contents from polarimetric SAR data is investigated using the AIRSAR data collected over the Jeju Island which were acquired along two orthogonal flight lines during PACRIM-II Korea experiment. An extension of the soil moisture inversion algorithm to a wider range of terrain types is presented by using the eigenvector based decomposition of the polarimetric SAR image data sets.

The Data Calibration of the AIRSAR PacRim II Mission
In this paper, we present the calibration results of the NASA/JPL Airborne Synthetic Aperture Radar (AIRSAR) for the Pacific Rim II mission. We also demonstrate the key elements of the calibration techniques for both polarimetric SAR (POLSAR) and cross-track interferometric SAR (TOPSAR) processed with the AIRSAR Integrated Processor.
متن کاملThe Nasa/jpl Airborne Synthetic Aperture Radar System
The NASA/JPL airborne SAR (AIRSAR) system operates in the fully polarimetric mode at P-, Land C-band simultaneously or in the interferometric mode in both Land C-band simultaneously. The system became operational in late 1987 and flew its first mission aboard a DC-8 aircraft operated by NASA's Ames Research Center in Mountain View, California. Since then, the AIRSAR has flown missions every yea...
متن کاملIteration Based Polarimetric SAR Image Classification
In this paper, an iteration method is proposed for supervised polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image classification. In this iterative approach, the optimization of polarimetric contrast enhancement (OPCE) is employed for enlarging the distance between the mean values of two kinds of targets and the Fisher method is employed for reducing the variances of two distributions. Using the ...
متن کاملPolarimetric and Interferometric SAR Calibration Verification Methods
It is necessary to calibrate SAR data in order to use the data for science applications. When both polarimetric and interferometric data are collected simultaneously, these SAR data can be used for cross-calibration and verification. The frequency of polarimetric and interferometric data does not have to be the same for this purpose. For example, the NASA/JPL AIRSAR system can acquire C-band in...
متن کاملA Method of Agricultural Areas Sar Data Segmentation Based on Unsupervised Full- Polarimetric
Classification is achieved by Markov random field filtering on the original data. The result is a series of segmented maps, which differ in the number of (unsupervised) classes. For a (compatible) supervised approach, only the first and last step have to be applied. Results are discussed for the agricultural areas Flevoland in The Netherlands (AirSAR data)and DEMMIN in Germany, using the NASA/J...
